The City of Paducah is heartbroken following the tragic events that occurred during our community's celebration of August 8th. Early in the morning on Saturday, August 9, an act of unnecessary violence resulted in three gunshot victims.
“Our community is grieving,” said Mayor George Bray. “What was meant to be a joyful celebration and homecoming to so many was instead marred by an unthinkable act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all who were affected. We are a strong and caring city, and in times of heartbreak, we come together to support one another and to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that Paducah remains a safe and welcoming place for all.”
The Paducah Police Department and other emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene providing immediate aid and transporting the injured to area hospitals. The Paducah Police Department is actively investigating the incident and two individuals, both nonresidents of Paducah, have been arrested. The Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
Mayor Bray continued, “The city commissioners and I adamantly condemn the violence that occurred this past weekend. We offer our condolences to the families and friends of those impacted. Furthermore, we pledge that those who commit needless and violent acts like this will be pursued relentlessly and brought to justice.”
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or submit an anonymous tip through West Kentucky Crime Stoppers Tips.
